Oh, you Disney Princesses, you do love to shop! I’ve been to a lot of malls in my time, and I really like Downtown Disney for several reasons. Just like the Disney parks, everything is sparkling clean, the lake is lovely at sunset, and the snacks are sweet and yummy. You don’t need park tickets to surround yourself with Disney magic here. You can window shop for free! Whether I have my Disney Visa on hand or not, there’s a certain Downtown store I visit on every trip I make to Disney for something beyond the Mickey Dolls and Goofy Gummy Worms. It doesn’t matter if you are a Disney Princess age eight or eighty, you’ll love this store.
It’s called Basin.
Basin is a luxury bath and body products store. They carry a wide selection of chemical-free soaps, all designed to make you feel pampered. I suggest you start at one end of the soap display and smell your way practically to the other side of the store. I’m not kidding. I pick up every bar of soap and give it a smell, because unlike a lot of other brands of soap, Basin soaps all smell different. All their bars of soap are visually appealing and just plain fun to look at too. Little Princesses will love the colors and shapes inside the bars, and they still look really cool to adults as well. There is a vast assortment of soap varieties, so allow yourself some time. Be sure to smell the Lemongrass Cranberry, my personal favorite.
Basin offers exclusive product lines of fragrances and solid perfumes, spa waxes, moisturizers, and a whole lot more.
Picture this…Basin products do not contain any parabens, a substance that mimics estrogen. Products containing synthetic estrogen have been linked to increases in cancer, male infertility, and changes in children’s developing reproductive systems. Basin products contain no alcohol to dry your skin, nor do they contain mineral oils, which can clog pores and slow the skin’s ability to rid itself of toxins. And for the animal-loving Diva, Basin products are never tested on any animals. Now that you are free of parabens, alcohol and mineral oils, you can relax and enjoy your shopping!
One of my little tricks is to take the Basin soap bar and cut it in thirds. Since your bar of soap spends a great deal of time wet, this prolongs the life of my soaps.
So what’s the big secret to this little store?! That it actually exists, really. I talk to so many people who have never heard of Basin, or walked right by without going in because they didn’t recognize the name. Where is the store at Downtown Disney? You’ll find it right next to Arribas Brothers, by the clay-pot fountain/Mickey Mouse topiary, and right by a huge store called the World of Disney. Now that you’re looking, you can’t miss it. The secret is, little girls, ah Disney Princesses, will love this store because of the amazing smell and the adorable soaps. My sons, though they would probably never admit to their friends they even walked into a soap store, have loved going in Basin for years. They are a fan of the sugar hand scrubs…be sure to try those out by the sinks.
Want to pamper yourself or your Disney Princess after your vacation has ended? Bring home some Basin products, and remember I said to stop and smell the Lemongrass Cranberry bath bar! You can click here to go to the Basin store online. There are Disney Pirate soaps there as well- not everything smells gurly and sweet.
There are actually two locations on the Walt Disney World property for Basin. There is a Basin at Downtown Disney and another called Basin White at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. During your vacation to the Disney theme parks, make a stop by either one of these Basin store locations to pick up some of their specialty bath items.
Thanks for stopping by for a photographical Disney ride, and we’ll see you soon at Basin, a bar of soap in hand.

We love Basin!
It’s a must-stop for us, too.
We get the bath bombs for gifts, and I love them as well. I even use them in the resort to soak away a long day of Disney trekking.
Also the salts are nice.
Love to try them out at Basin, and then buy them!
Benda’s not really much of a shopper, but she does love Downtown Disney (I, on the other hand, do love to shop–and DTD is a definite fave!) and Basin!
Thanks for revealing the “secret”!

Love Basin! We brought back shampoo and conditioner bars, body cream and shaving cream. It is fab! I really enjoy it because I have to use all natural products or else I get welts. Finally – I can find it all together and it is wonderful!
Hey Tracy,
We didn’t realize they were remodeling the Downtown location, but it just re-opened yesterday. Looks fabulous. Thanks for stopping by!
