Gaston’s Tavern

image1

Nestled in the new Fantasyland expansion is Gaston’s Tavern.  As a girl who grew up with the new animated classics and could recite Beauty & the Beast for you line by line, this whole area is just perfect! The new storytime in Belle and Maurice’s cottage is fab and so is every detail at Be Our Guest restaurant.

However in all the excitement for this area plastered all over the internet, poor Gaston seems to be left out! And since Be Our Guest is so popular the lines here can be significantly shorter!! Here are my top 5 reasons you should add Gaston’s to your to-do list:
1- The fountain!! After all what is a Beauty & the Beast area without a fountain? It makes me want to sit and ready a fairytale like Belle does in her opening sequence of the film.

2- The attention to detail! Have a seat by the fire in Gaston’s chair, check out how he used antlers in all of his decorating, and even check out his winning dart game vs Lefou!
3- Surprises! The nods to Disney references worked right into the barrels!

4- Lefou’s Brew! I love signature drinks and this frosty apple frozen drink does not disappoint! And for an added charge you can get it in a souvenir mug!

5- The food! My cinnamon roll was bigger than Gaston’s bicep and I liked the lamb shank better than (gasp!) the Magic Kingdom turkey legs!!

Quick Service Breakfasts on the Disney Dining Plan

296068 10150356876238417 106657338416 9748099 527435 n 400x239 Quick Service Breakfast: Are there many choices? %tag

By Melissa L.

With so many people taking advantage of the free Disney Dining Plan promotions each year, a lot of questions seem to pop up about counter service options in Walt Disney World.  Breakfast seems to be the most sought after quick meal (and I don’t blame you, I love to eat but I don’t let food come between me and my park time either)!

I find that it is much easier to snack a breakfast than to grab a quick service one, as aside from food courts the best options tend to be bakeries that offer muffins and other pastries that can utilize snack credits.  You can also get coffee, tea, juice, and water here.  In the long run it may work in your favor to “snack” breakfasts and save your counter service credits for bigger meals!

Here’s a quick overview of counter service stops in the parks:

Magic Kingdom – Main Street Bake Shop is my fave choice for breakfast here.  Currently there are no quick service breakfasts offered at the Magic Kingdom restaurants, however, snacking one of the tempting selections here is a great choice (and this may change with the opening of the new Fanstasyland expansion)!

Epcot – Boulangerie Patisserie in World Showcase is my fave choice and they offer both snack and quick service options for all meals.  You can also grab a quick service breakfast at Electric Umbrella and  Sunshine Seasons in Future World.

Hollywood Studios – Starring Rolls is not only your best choice in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, its the only breakfast-offering stop!

Animal Kingdom – Kusafiri Coffe Shop or Tamu Tamu Refreshments are your best choice here, although both take snack credits and not counter service ones and the menus do change.

Don’t forget almost ALL Walt Disney World Resort Hotels offer a food court of some sort and Disney changes things up sometimes based on crowds so you may find a coffee cart or that you can grab a quick service meal in places that you though were only snackable!  While some require you to leave your hotel to grab a meal, this is an important fact to check up on before you plan your meals!

Happy Touring (& eating)!

When Melissa isn’t teaching, snapping pictures to post on Picturing Disney on Facebook, updating her photoblog Picturing Disney, or prancing around Disney Parks like a kid, she is lives her life filled with love, laughter, and happily ever after in New York with her husband and their adorable dog.

Dining at the Liberty Tree Tavern

My Dreams of Disney

Liberty Tree Tavern is a one table-service credit restaurant on the Disney Dining Plan, and reservations for this restaurant are recommended.  When we last ate at the Liberty Tree Tavern, it was way back on Sophie’s birthday, June 19, 2008, and it was a character dining location.  Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Chip & Dale came to meet us, and it was a wonderful setting for a character meal.

Liberty Tree Tavern is no longer a character meal, but I’m betting that the food is as delicious as ever!  Themed much like the land that is occupies, Liberty Square, the food is based on what you would find during the Colonial Days, when the United States was in it’s infancy.  Here is the dinner menu, the kids menu, and the lunch menu for you to peruse at your leisure.

The dinner menu is served family style, with wonderful dishes, I remember how good it all was when we last ate there!  The lunch menu is ordered off the menu, and features such dishes as pot roast, pasta, and other great dishes.

During our most recent visit, we invited along Sophie’s best friend Riley to join us.  It was Sophie’s birthday, and the two of them had so much fun all day long at the Magic Kingdom!  It was during this dining experience that I was able to get these pictures.  I love the way that Minnie Mouse is all decked out in period clothing!

Sophie loves to kiss the noses of the characters!  I’m not sure why…
My Dreams of Disney
Riley and Sophie with Dale!

The are two reasons that we stopped going to Liberty Tree Tavern.  The first is because they changed it out of being a Character dining location.  We really enjoy our interaction with characters, and have always enjoyed being able to do that while eating, and not have to wait in line to see them.  So when they stopped it being a character location, it kind of lost a little bit of it’s appeal to us.  I know, that seems kind of a lame excuse, and it is, but it’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it!  The second reason is because we actually ate at Liberty Tree Tavern two years in a row, both 2007 and 2008, and we wanted to try out other restaurants.

When we are a little older, I can see us coming back to Liberty Tree Tavern to have a meal there again.  It is a wonderful atmosphere, with wonderful food and theming, and in 2007, when we had finished having lunch there, we just happened to have some Disney Magic on our side, and we walked out of the restaurant just in time to see one of the parades come right by!  I was able to snag these and other photos from our viewing location!

I really enjoyed Liberty Tree Tavern the times that we ate there, and will give it a try again in the future.  Although we haven’t been there for a number of years, I still have fond memories of the restaurant, including when Cindy and I ate there when we ate our way around Disney.  It was then that Cindy claims that she “got the goods” on me and my “crush” on Minnie Mouse.  I keep telling her we’re just friends, but she’s not buying it!  Still, I think Cindy likes eating there also, so we’ll be back again, I think.

Have you eaten at the Liberty Tree Tavern?  What are your impressions of it?  Please tell me in the comments, and thanks for stopping by today!

My Dreams of Disney is just that…My Dreams of my absolute favorite place in the World! Stop by and share your Dreams too! Yo Ho, Yo Ho, A Pirates Life for US!

Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is a new interactive game that rolled out last month at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom theme park. I paid absolutely no attention to any of the press involved with the game,  thinking my pre-teen children would prefer to ride rides instead. Who loved it and who hated it?  Let’s check out the specifics of the game and then see what the Mouze Kateerz Sorcerers thought.
