Every photo has a story.
Walk straight into Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and take a left; you’ve arrived at Whispering Canyon Café, a rowdy eatin’ place for families in an atmosphere reminiscent of the lodges of the Old West. For breakfast, lunch, or dinner, there are entres, a la carte items, and fabulous ALL YOU CARE TO ENJOY “Canyon Skillet” platters for lots of dining options. Here are three reasons you’ll thoroughly enjoy a meal there.
1. The Food!
Breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe offers entrees like eggs, oatmeal, Barbeque Eggs Benedict, omlets, french toast, pancakes, and waffles.
Lunch offers entrees like salad, sandwiches (turkey, chicken, pulled pork) grilled meatloaf, and an Angus Chuck Bacon Cheeseburger
Dinner offers entrees like Country Pot Roast, Griddled Home-style meatloaf, Chicken and Penne Pasta, Whiskey Maple-glazed Trout, Sautéed Red Quinoa Cakes, Grilled New York Strip Steak, and the Grilled Espresso-Chipotle Marinated Pork Loin with Chorizo-Tillamook Grits.
For the kids, or the kid in you, there’s Glowing Character Punch, ALL YOU CARE TO DRINK Sheriff’s Shakes, and smoothies, priced from $4.69 to $6.69. For the true adult, there are specialty drinks, draft and bottled beer, and medium to full bodied Red and White wines.
Our Mouze Kateerz fine dining expert, Shannan Wright of Addicted to Mickey , gave the WCC a top-notch rating. “The food at Whispering Canyon Cafe is so delicious. My family has eaten at many restaurants in Walt Disney World , and this establishment has some of the best dishes ever. This is the first time we finished a meal, and we all immediately made plans to to return for another meal on our next trip.
The Sheriff’s milkshakes are made from scratch and bottomless. The chocolate shake is made with real vanilla ice cream, swirled with chocolate syrup, and topped with whipped cream, sprinkles and a cherry.
My family particularly enjoyed the All-You-Care-To-Enjoy Canyon Skillet. This is HUGE! Everything on it was yummy. If you can make room for it in your tummy, the desserts are also wonderful. By far the best dessert I have eaten anywhere at Walt Disney World is the Kahlua flavored chocolate cake with chocolate mousse filling.
We always try to get different desserts and sample each others’ goodies. Everything we sampled here was really good. Anything that says it comes with berries, comes with GIANT berries, like blackberries on steroids.
Shannan summed up the food by saying, “If you leave this restaurant hungry and don’t have a good time, it is no one’s fault but your own. My personal tip- don’t forget to ask for ketchup!”
2. Go for the Fun!
Back to Shannan, “The Whispering Canyon Cafe is such a fun, exciting place! At the entrance to the restaurant, there are tables where kids can play and color while diners wait to be seated. We loved the loud, exciting atmosphere and how much the Cast Members and waiters paid extra attention to us. Now, this is by no means a place for a romantic dinner. Justice, our waiter, was so much fun. He played tricks on us all evening! My kids really enjoyed the pony races. This is where children are invited to hop on stick horses and gallop all around the restaurant to the beat of the music. We has an absolute blast!”
When the slogan on your menu reads like this…
“We’ve got stories and even a song or two, so get ready to join in. The goings-on can get a little loud, and that’s the way we like it!”
…then be prepared for some loud and rauchous fun. I’ve read reviews from Disney vacationers expressing the Whispering Canyon Cafe was too loud and busy for them. But if you’re up for a down-home good time, get yourself ready to make some noise and have a great dining experience.
